It all started in the most romantic of places—next to a freezer in a grocery store, both reaching for the same pizza box. Alright, alright… maybe fate had a little digital help from our mutual friend, Tinder.
From the very first message, we never stopped talking. Not a single day has passed without a conversation, a laugh, or a sweet goodnight.
Not long after, in March 2022, we finally met in a small town north of Shepparton, Victoria. And let’s just say, Sandy fell for Joel - quite literally. In her brand new boots, she slipped on some gumnuts and landed straight in his arms. Joel still swears she did it on purpose. (She didn’t. But hey, good catch - in more ways than one.)
From that moment, everything just felt right. Life moved fast, but so did we. Joel moved back to Mansfield, Sandy prepared to start her studies in Bendigo, and before we knew it, we were searching for our first home together. First application, first house tour and just like that, we moved in, ready to start our next chapter side by side.
Then came Daisy, our little four legged bundle of joy, being a little sister to Mac and Sadie and the rest? Well, the rest is our beautiful love story, still being written every single day.
Guess who had a ring burning a hole in his pocket for months, just waiting for the perfect moment? That’s right Joel had been planning to propose in Daylesford, at our favourite spot, where the scenery is as beautiful as the company. But as life does, it had other plans.
Meanwhile, Sandy had her own mission - finding the perfect place where the dogs could splash around, and we could enjoy a swim without driving for hours. So, with a car full of excited pups, a picnic basket packed with drinks, snacks, and, of course, sandwiches (because what’s a picnic without them?), we set off to Rocky Crossing in Goornong, Victoria.
And there, surrounded by the peaceful creek, with the dogs happily playing nearby and sandwiches in hand, Joel finally asked the big question. (And no, he wasn’t just asking if Sandy wanted the last sandwich - though that would have been a tough call too.)
You can all guess how Sandy responded… with a heart full of love and a very big YES!
